Does your facility handle any of OSHA's listed highly hazardous chemicals?

OSHA's Appendix A lists 137 chemicals with threshold quantities (TQs). If any single process at your facility contains a listed chemical at or above its TQ, PSM coverage is triggered. Search your chemical below:

Does your facility use flammable liquids or gases in large quantities?

Even if your chemicals aren't on Appendix A, PSM applies if a single process contains 10,000 lbs or more of a flammable liquid (flash point below 100ยฐF / 37.8ยฐC) or any flammable gas. This covers many petroleum refining and petrochemical processes.

Does your facility qualify for any PSM exclusions?

Even if you handle Appendix A chemicals or large quantities of flammables, certain facility types and situations are excluded from PSM. Check any that apply to your facility:

Check EPA's RMP Rule Too

Many facilities covered by PSM also fall under EPA's Risk Management Program (40 CFR Part 68). The thresholds and chemicals differ slightly โ€” check both standards if you handle highly hazardous chemicals.
